It's Monday Madness!!!

1. On Sunday afternoon, I like to just....... What ever comes to mind, clean, wash clothes, watch a DVD, listen to the radio, surf....

2. I'm behind someone at a traffic light, the light turns green and they just sit there, I...HONK

3. My immediate reaction to someone making a nasty remark to me is... I ignore it. Why lower myself to their level?

4. If I had to live in a state/country where it was cold most of the year, I would...Love it! I prefer autumn and winter...Spring isn't bad, but I absolutely hate summer.

5. When the weather outside is hot and humid, I prefer to... to sit in side in the A/C.

6. My favorite 'comfy' clothes to wear around the house is...flannel "jammy" pants and a t-shirt or a flannel shirt

7. If given a deadline at work/school to finish a project, I usually... finish it early, if I like it. Take the full amount of time if I don't

8. If someone gave me a pet for my birthday, I would...hope it's a gold fish. My little dog is very territorial and doesn't like other animals in her space. She barely tolerates the cat.

9. As far as watching the clock on weekends, I...I usually don't, but I like to get an early start cause I hate feeling like I have wasted the day.

10. I usually wash my car about every...year, LOL. I'm bad about putting it off, that is why I got a silver car. It's hard to tell when it is dirty.

Gotta run, enjoy your Monday........

It's Friday!!!!

don't know what I'm so damned happy about just because it's Friday. I'm home everyday, don't have to go to work Monday thru Friday, so it's really just another day.
Remember when, as a kid, Friday was a day of expectation because it was the Day before Saturday, which was the day everyone went to Town? I remember looking forward to Saturday, because you might get to go to town with mom and dad. Of course, as we got older, it was a day to do chores that weren't normally done during the week.

If dad was on the rag that meant, scrubbing the kitchen floor on your hands and knees with a scrub brush. Or white glove bedroom inspections. He used to drive me nuts with those! Here I had worked several hours and to me it was spotless( well, maybe not spotless), everything put up, clothes in the closet hung up, nothing under the bed ( yeah, he would check there), bed made properly. and what's the first thing he'd do? Run his damn finger over the fricking TOP of the door sill! ARGHHHH!!! I am now, as a 44 y/o adult only 5'1" how was I supposed to remember and reach that back then? Drove me to seriously consider beaning him over the head with something. And all of our chores had to be done by noon! Talk about serious anger issues! No wonder everyone though I was mean and always mad.
Now to the Friday Five.

1. What's the most daring thing you've ever done? I'll have to make a list here, Hang gliding,
rappelling, and one(only one) static line parachute jump. ( figured out after the first one how utterly moronic it is to jump out of a perfectly good airplane) Of course I did all this before the age of 25.

2. What one thing would you like to try that your mother/friend/significant other would never approve of? I can't really think of anything my mother might not approve of, since she pretty much keeps her opinions to herself about anything that I do. She might say something to my brother or sisters about it but never to me. She's like that with them too. She's pretty open minded and if it was something dangerous, she would just say to be careful. Plus I did all my risk taking when I was younger so she really doesn't have to worry much about it now.

3. On a scale of 1-10, what's your risk factor? (1=never take risks, 10=it's a lifestyle)I'd say maybe a 4. I love log flumes and the mini-mine train rides that have the very sharp cornering and the fast speed. I hate roller coasters for the tall long drops, I don't like that feeling of leaving stomach at the top of the drop when I'm at the bottom. Nothing that loops! I don't mind rides that are basically like a parachute drop(done that before). Bungie jumping is right up there with jumping out of airplanes.

4. What's the best thing that's ever happened to you as a result of being bold/risky? I got to try some things when I was young enough to enjoy them, and stupid enough to ignore the danger. And I met some great people.

5. ... and what's the worst? I really can't think of anything. All the bones I have broken (both collar bones, but not at the same time) happened when I did stupid everyday things that wouldn't be considered dangerous. I broke one when I was 5, by standing on a hammock and falling off. And then I broke the other one when I was about 13 playing football with a bunch of really BIG guys.

Here's the Thursday Threesome late again. But you guys are getting used to that by now.

The Thursday Threesome

Onesome: Anyone-- Has anyone made an impression on you lately? No, not on the national level, but at work or school or just 'around'. ...or even here on the web?
Would that be negatively or positively? Positively, the waiter at Applebees day before yesterday. He is the first one in forever who didn't ask "do you need change?" That just burns me up when wait staff do that and it also decreases their tip. Negatively, the entire VA medical health care system in general, and the VA medical center personnel in Dallas specifically. I might get into that at some point but now it just makes my blood boil so I'll leave alone so as not to ruin my good mood.

Twosome: can Miss-- Speaking of webbish things (and of course we are !), what types of things do you take a miss on at your place and chose not to post about? Just curious...
I talk about everything, so you are apt to find it written about here. Just depends on my mood of the day. I don't usually discuss politics, mainly cause people get upset at me when I state that I don't vote a party line and vote for whomever I feel will do the best job not the party line.

Threesome: a Day-- On a similar note: do you post every day? ...or just whenever? ...or is every session at the computer a spur to work up a little something? I post whenever I feel like it, or something catches my interest that I want to share, or when I feel like I want to update others as to what is going on in my life.

As to what is happening in my life lately. I found out, recently, that I have a "sick" gall bladder and it needs to come out. I had a very bad attack and ended up in the emergency room a week ago and the doctor wanted to send me to the VA in an ambulance. I talked him out of that. I had another smaller attack last night so I guess I need to quit putting off going to the VA walk in clinic and get it taken care of. I will probably do that Monday or Tuesday next week. and this time I will take a book to read, as I will be there all day, I'm sure.
that's all that's new for me. For now, I think I'll go get more coffee.....
Till the next time.

I Screwed Up....Again

Was late to my job interview yesterday....yeah, I know, great way to impress a prospective employer. But,, again, life intruded.
The window guys did not show up yesterday. When you pay 4200.00 for something you expect it to be there when it is scheduled to be there. I had to deal with that crisis first. Then everything in my bathroom and vanity area is "under construction". No mirrors, no outlets. Just primer on the walls and naked light switches. The cabinets and counters are still there, but what good are they with no mirror and outlets? All they really do at the moment is hold all the stuff for the bathroom and everything that goes on the counters.
I had to move all of my preparations to the kids dinky bathroom. The only outlet is the one on the light fixture over the sink, but at least they have a mirror.
Then it was discussions about carpet and floor tile (which we have had a zillion times already!) I refuse to let the contractor to put the grade carpet in the house that he budgeted for. He did not budget enough to begin with. You do not put $1 a sq. ft. carpet in a 160 thousand dollar house, period. I think they know now that the money for the carpet will have to come out of the budget somewhere and there is plenty of padding for that to happen. We have saved money on the appliances already, and they did not have to haul off the fence( I gave all the fencing material to someone with the stipulation that they come and get it) there are 4 or 5 rolls of insulation up in the attic that were never rolled out, so there is some money saved there.
Then it was the dreaded Dallas traffic. Normally at that time of day, you just sail down 75 into downtown. But yesterday? Could I have picked a better route? Sure, if I had know about the big accident on 75 southbound (the direction I was traveling), but they don't do traffic reports at 11:45 am. If you are real lucky, they might mention it on the hour or on the half, but only if you are lucky and happen to catch it.
The upshot is that I arrived about 12 minutes late, and having no cell phone( I hate those damn things with a passion!) I could not call and let them know I got stuck in traffic. I was told that the interviewer would call me back to reschedule, but I haven't heard from her at this point. I'm not even sure if she was informed that I showed up. Oh, well! Back to the job section of the paper. They don't call me back, it's their loss, I can find something else.
Anyway, I see that my brother now has a blog. If I could figure out how to link to him and my SIL, I would but I haven't really had the time. Hey! Bro! I read yours, you read mine!

That was my Monday Madness. How was yours? A little less maddening than mine, I hope.
What was that famous line by Scarlet O'Hara about tomorrow? Ah well, that's what happens when you get older.
There is always hope. Maybe, I'll remember it tomorrow.

The Friday Five
(Yeah, I know it's late, but I been busy)

You have just won one million dollars:

1. Who do you call first? Let's see....uhm, nobody....everyone that I would want to know already lives with me

2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself? A new car possibly a Mustang with that SOC engine ( I'm a hotrod at heart)

3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else? A new roof for my mother

4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom? Yes, 10,000 to mom, Sherii, James, and Candace. The rest goes into a trust

5. Do you invest any? If so, how Like I said the rest will go into a trust, some to be invested buy the trust, some to just draw interest. After taxes, a million is not a lot of money, so it would all have to be done very carefully.

And that's about all that has happened for my week-end. Hope yours was more interesting.
